This paper uses feminist studies in religion and literature approach to reading Park Wansuh’s three representative feminist novels-Beginning of the Living Days, Woman on Her Feet, Are You Still Dreaming-in an effort to complement the method of feminist studies in literature. Although recent feminist studies on these novels have positively re-evaluated Park’s feminism, by neglecting Park’s religious concerns it has failed to give a comprehensive understanding of these works. Therefore, I include feminist studies in religion approach to reading these novels and argue that contrary to conflicting evaluation of Park’s feminism, Park has been consistent in her ‘ultimate concern.’ In this light, what these three feminist novels ultimately aim to show even as they expose the patriarchal nature of marriage are three principles of marriage: reciprocity, love, and honesty.

이 논문은 박완서의 여성주의 소설 『살아있는 날의 시작』, 『서있는 여자』, 『그대 아직도 꿈꾸고 있는가』를 여성주의 종교/문학 연구 방법론으로 읽음으로 써, 여성주의 비평의 관점에서만 보았을 때는 간과하는 지점을 드러내어 박완서 문학에 대한 이해를 넓히고자 한다. 최근에 여성주의 문학 연구에서 박완서의 이 세 소설에 대한 재평가가 활발하게 일고 있지만, 박완서의 종교적 배경을 간 과함으로써 그의 작품에 대한 포괄적인 이해에 도달하지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 여성주의 종교의 연구 방법도 같이 사용하여 박완서의 이 세 소설 을 읽음으로써, 여성주의 문학의 관점에서만 보았을 때의 엇갈린 평가와 달리 사실 박완서는 자신의 ‘궁극적 관심,’ 즉 종교에 따라 일관성을 보였음을 주장 한다. 이 관점에서 볼 때 이 세 소설이 가부장적 결혼의 현실을 드러내면서 궁 극적으로 보여주고자 하는 것은 상호성, 사랑, 정직이라는 결혼의 세 원칙이다.
