Manuscript Review and Publication Guidelines

■ Manuscript Review and Publication Guidelines ■

1. Manuscripts can be submitted at any time of the year, but manuscripts submitted by Jan. 31, Ap. 30, July 31 and Oct. 31 are considered being reviewed for the first, second, third and fourth issues respectively.

2. All the submitted manuscripts will be preliminarily reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and further reviewed by three or more reviewers.
1) Preliminary Review: The Editor-in-Chief will select manuscripts for further review, considering the Journal's submission guidelines, the Korean and English abstracts, the works cited, the manuscript preparation method, the nature of manuscript in relation to the aim of the journal, and the research ethics guidelines of the KSLR. The Editor-in-Chief should inspect the submitted manuscripts for similarity using the KCI Journal Similarity Check system and examine the core sections, including the titles, key words, quotations, and bodies of the submitted manuscripts through all domestic and international Internet search engines. The Chair of Research Ethics Board should make sure that these procedures have been completed at the Editorial Board meetings. Those manuscripts rejected in the preliminary review are not allowed to be published in the current issue.

2) Final Review: The Editor-in-Chief convenes an editorial board meeting to select and nominate reviewers for the submitted manuscripts. The editorial board nominates three or more reviewers per manuscript. When two or more reviewers agree to publish (publish or publish with revisions), such manuscript is considered passing the final review and being published in the current issue. Those manuscripts with "reject" from two or more reviewers will not be published in any issue. Those manuscripts with "review upon revisions" from two or more reviewers will be published in the current issue or the following issue upon the reexamination. The Editor-in-Chief can appoint additional reviewers whose specialties are not directly related to manuscripts' subject matters but who can evaluate the general writing styles and overall structures of the manuscripts.

3. The nominated reviewers should evaluate their designated manuscripts carefully considering the following criteria and choose "publish," "publish with revisions," "review upon revisions" or "reject" in the evaluation result section.
1) Creativity (10): A(10), B(9), C(8), D(7), E(6)
2) Clearness of logic (10): A(10), B(9), C(8), D(7), E(6)

4. A reviewer should submit "manuscript evaluation report" in details upon the review.

5. After the Editor-in-Chief collects manuscript evaluation reports, he/she convenes an editorial board meeting to decide the publication of manuscripts. In case of 'review upon revisions,' the editorial board meeting decides if such manuscript will be published in the current issue.

6. The editor-in-chief informs the submitter of the result in 40 days. He/she will inform the submitter of the Editorial Board's decision and the results of the reviewers' evaluations. If it is necessary to revise the manuscript, the Editor-in-Chief prepares a revision proposal and send it to the submitter along with the reviewers' revision proposals.

7. If the submitter does not reply to the reviewers' recommendations or does not revise the manuscript in accordance with the reviewers' recommendations, publication of their manuscript may be cancelled. If one appeals one's non-compliance with the reviewers' revision proposal in writing, the Editor-in-Chief forwards such information to the respective reviewers and collects their opinion. Then he/she decides the final decision on the publication status of such manuscript.

8. When the editorial board meeting allows the manuscript to be published in the current issue, but (a) reviewer(s) may request for reexamination. If the submitter revises and resubmits the manuscript within a certain period of time, the Editor-in-Chief requests the reviewer(s) to reexamine the manuscript. Depending on the result of reexamination of the manuscript, the Editor-in-Chief decides on the final publication status of the manuscript.

9. The Editor-in-Chief verifies the revision reports and revised manuscripts. Then he/she will send the manuscripts to the publisher.
