The purpose of this study is to analyze that the identity of the Silla people ruled by the religious class through shamanism continues not only in the present but also in the world of death. Basically, shamanism is related to the connection between heaven and earth, and it can be said that the ruler’s political will to fully reproduce the cosmic order system on earth is realized. This can be seen in the thought of Jaeseihwa mentioned by Park Hyuk-geose, the founder of the Silla Dynasty. Shamanism led to Silla’s Hwarangdo, forming the central ideology of Pungryudo. The fact that King Wonseong’s tomb was built by hanging a coffin on the water symbolizes the ship heading to the underworld, where the water symbolizes the Milky Way. Basically, in the world of shamanism, the east is a place where the sun rises; if it is symbolized as the meaning of the birth of life, the west is a place where the sun is set, symbolizing the underworld. This can be linked to an armed stone statue of the westerner living in the west.

본 연구의 목적은 샤머니즘을 통해서 종교계급이 통치했던 신라 사람들의 정체성이 현세뿐만 아니라, 죽음의 세계에서도 이어지고 있음을 분석해보는 것이 다. 기본적으로 샤머니즘은 우주적 질서체계를 지상에서 완벽하게 재현시키고 자 하는 통치자의 정치적 의지가 구현된 것이라고 할 수 있다. 이것은 신라의 시조인 박혁거세가 언급했던 재세이화 사상에서도 알 수 있다. 샤머니즘의 핵심 인 제천의식은 하늘에 제사를 수행하던 행사였고, 이러한 샤머니즘은 풍류도의 중심사상을 이루면서 신라의 화랑도로 이어지고 있다. 원성왕의 능이 물 위에 관을 걸어서 축조했다는 것은 관이 저승으로 향하는 배를 상징하는 것이고, 물 은 은하수를 상징하고 있는 것이다. 기본적으로 샤머니즘 세계에서 동쪽은 태양 이 뜨는 곳으로 생명 탄생의 의미로 상징화된다면 서쪽은 태양이 지는 곳으로 저승세계를 상징화한다. 이것은 무인석상이 서쪽에 살고 있는 서역인의 모습을 하고 있는 것과 연결 지을 수 있다.
