This study originated from the idea that restoring the order in nature would make the human beings sustainable. I illuminated some works of ecological literature in which I newly discovered a variety of literary values and religious motifs. To have a new perspective on nature and to remove psychological and substantial barriers existing between the human and the non-human, we need an eye of an innocent child. Carl G. Jung explained the archetype of “the Self” with the “plant motif.” The Eden myth and the image of Mother Earth may act upon realizing “the Self.” This analysis of nature imagery is not romantic or reactionary when juxtaposed with the critical situation. This study expresses my will to overcome the destruction of our earth through rediscovering ecological literature and by reinterpreting its practical vision. This lesson can stir both our will to survive and our drive to solve an imminent existential crisis.

이 논문은 자연의 질서 회복이 인간을 지속 가능토록 한다는 생각에서 비롯되었다. 필자가 새로이 발견한 다양한 문학적 가치와 종교적 모티프를 지닌 생태 문학 작품들을 조명해 보았다. 자연에 대한 새로운 관점을 지니고 인간 대 비인간의 심리적이고 실재적인 장벽을 없애기 위해서 우리는 순진무구한 어린이의 눈을 지닐 필요가 있다. 융은 인간의 원형적 ‘자기’의 모습을 ‘식물 모티프’로 설명하였다. 에덴동산의 신화와 어머니 대지의 이미지는 ‘자기’ 실현의 과정에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 자연의 이미저리와 연관된 필자의 분석은 심각한 상황과 병치하고 있는 시기에 낭만적이거나 반동적인 것은 아니다, 이 연구는 생태 문학을 재발견하고 그것의 실제적인 비전을 재해석함으로써 우리 지구의 파괴를 극복하고자 하는 필자의 의지를 표현한 것이다. 생태 문학의 교훈은 우리들의 생존 의지와 임박한 실존적 위기를 해결하고자 하는 우리의 의지를 북돋울 수 있을 것이다
