This research aims to look into literary elements in Daesoonjinrihoescripture and figure out the religious meanings of them in terms of ‘New Religion.’According to the record known so far, the founder Jeung-San shows a good deal ofsuper-natural acts, especially calling himself ‘Sang-Je,’ the supreme of all gods,and his religious acts ‘Chun Ji Gong Sa.’ Nonetheless, the scripture,‘Jeon-Gyeong,’ contains various literary symbols and metaphors to emphasize thesereligious aspects: various proverbs, heroic myths, poetic descriptions and quotationsfrom other scriptures. We do not know that the literary elements in ‘Jeon-Gyeong’came directly from Jeung-San, yet dramatized by informants. Therefore, the literaryelements in the scripture become ‘the tool’ which helps better understand itscreative religious works. So the ‘Jeon-Gyeong’ can be seen as a ‘story-telling’ in that Jeung-San himself speaks to today’s people to feel Jeung-San’s religious ideas
