몽골 소설 『샤먼의 전설』에 나타난 ‘네오샤머니즘’의 영성
몽골 소설 『샤먼의 전설』은 바이칼을 배경으로 창작된 최초의 장편 소설로 몽골과 시베리아 샤머니즘의 문화인류학적 통찰과 함께 문학적 상상력이 더해져 이야기의 실재성과 종교적 영성의 깊이를 담고 있다. 소설은 주인공 텡기스가 바이칼 올혼 섬에서 겪게 되는 일련의 사건들을 무당 하그대의 삶과 함께 다양한 몽골 샤머니즘의 모티브와 연결하여 샤머니즘의 본질과 네오샤먼의 존재론적 의미를 찾고 있다. 저자는 인간 의식에는 수많은 존재방식이 내밀하게 상호 연결되어 있으며 이 의식의 각성을 촉발시키는 영적 매개체는 바로 인간의 원초적 고통이라고 본다. 본 글은 크게 ‘고통의 영성화’와 ‘고통의 의례화’라는 두 주제로 『샤먼의 전설』을 네오샤먼적 관점에서 분석하고 해석한다. 이 과정에서 본 글은 고통과 상처는 극복과 소멸의 대상이 아니라 공존과 합일의 대상임을 시사한다. 치유의 완전성보다는 불완전성을 통해 네오샤먼은 고통을 관통할 수 있는 능력을 얻게 되며 결국 고차적인 의식 세계로 나아가게 됨을 강조한다. 또한 이러한 의식을 체득한 네오샤먼의 새로운 인간상은 궁극적으로 인간을 억압하는 사회·정치적 모순과 체제에 저항하며 지속적인 변혁을 꿈꾸게 하는 새로운 인식 공동체의 주체자로 그려진다.
The Spirituality of Neo-Shamanism in the Mongolian Novel, The Shamanic Legend

Abstract
This paper aims to search for a spirituality of neo-shamanism in theMongolian novel, The Shamanic Legend, written by Gun Ayurzana. This novelexplores topics such as the shamanic journey, shamanic principle for alteringconsciousness, shamanic cosmology, and the origin and goals of the neo-shamanspirituality. Reflecting and narrating author’s own experiences at the Lake Baikaland Olkhon Island for seven years, he describes many facets of the complexcultural phenomenon and its relevance to human sufferings. In the novel, theauthor emphasizes the ability to enter the shaman state of consciousness with theself-constitutive interaction and awakening process through the two main figures- Tenggis and Hagguidae. The main characteristics of neo-shaman spirituality ofthe novel can be summarized into five themes: tocophilia spirituality,self-subjective ASC, self-transformation and illuminating spirituality, awakeningof the godhead, and the socio-political resistance.
